Duncumb Award for Excellence in Microanalysis
Call for Nominations ♦ Deadline: November 15
The Council of the Microanalysis Society (MAS) is soliciting nominations for the Peter Duncumb Award for Excellence in Microanalysis, awarded annually during the opening plenary session at Microscopy & Microanalysis, the Society’s annual meeting.
The Duncumb Award recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of microanalysis through technical accomplishment, leadership, and educational and professional activities. Nomination packages need not to address accomplishments in all these areas of achievement, but the intent of the award is to honor a breadth of accomplishments.
The award recipient must be an individual currently active in his or her career.
The selection process for the Duncumb Award is distinct from that of the Presidential Awards, for which the winners are chosen by the sitting MAS President. Nominations for the Duncumb Award are solicited from the general MAS membership. The MAS Awards Committee then reviews all the nomination packages and makes a recommendation to MAS Council. MAS Council then votes on the nomination recommendation.
Nominations packages should be submitted using this form to the Chair of the MAS Awards Committee, and should comprise the following:
- A letter of nomination from a MAS member in good standing, describing the accomplishments of the candidate as indicated above; and
- Supplemental support letters from MAS members and the scientific community.
Nominations packages for unsuccessful candidates will remain active for consideration for the following year. The winner of the Duncumb Award will be announced on or around March 31.
